Create new data point

If you want to use the result of a calculation as a new data point on a widget, you can create a new virtual data point directly from the worksheet. Virtual data points essentially behave like regular data points, but they are not linked to a specific bus object.

1. Create a new worksheet or select an existing one.

2. In the data point panel on the left side of your worksheet, select a data point filter. The new data point will automatically be assigned to the device to which the data point filter belongs.

3. Now click on Create New Data Point, which is located right next to the data point filter drop down.

4. Give the data point a meaningful name and, if necessary, a system name (i.e. a plant identification code) and select the desired data type.

5. Click on OK. You will find the newly created data point in the current data point filter in the data point bar. If there are other data point filters whose filter criteria also match the new data point, it will also appear in these data point filters.

Virtual data points are displayed in purple on the worksheet so that they are easily distinguishable from regular data points.
