Introduction

Generic IoT devices can be integrated in the Avelon ecosystem that obtain their measurement data or alarms from different sources, e.g. from their own sensors or from connected controllers. In order for the data to be transmitted correctly, the individual channels must first be set up and connected to the IoT device.

To avoid having to set up the data points separately for each individual device, you can create what is known as an IoT profile and then apply it to several devices. This automatically creates data points and links them to the corresponding inputs and outputs of the IoT device. In addition, you also define the decoding algorithm on the IoT profile that receives the incoming data stream from the device and correctly converts it into the corresponding measurement values.
