Virtual devices
A virtual device is only a container for data points and does not represent an actual physical device.
As such, virtual devices have only limited capabilities. Since virtual devices have no means of communication, they don’t offer communication watchdogs, alarms or automated recording of measurements, and they cannot communicate with other devices or services.
Virtual devices can, however, be targeted in data imports to import data point measurements from external sources. Please refer to that page for additional restrictions in terms of virtual devices and data imports.
