Web interface

The web interface of the Beetle gives you quick access to the most important basic settings and the individual services that run on the device.

Note

While the main page is accessible without logging in and the current status of the device and its services can be viewed at any time, a login is required to access all other functions. Normally, a login screen appears automatically. However, you can also log in directly by clicking on the Login** option in the top right-hand corner.

Warning

To change configurations, you must have access with operator privileges.

Basic settings

The basic settings of the Beetle include all connection-related functions, especially the network and Internet connection as well as remote access via VPN.

General settings

The General Settings section on the left not only allows you to manage the services of the Beetle, but also change general system settings.

Communication protocols

A list of all available communication protocols and their current status it displayed on the left. Running services are marked with a green icon. A red cross icon indicates possible problems, and a watch icon means that the service is running for a limited time since it has not yet been licensed.

Click on any of these protocols to get to the corresponding detail and configuration view. The Beetle currently offers the following configurable services:

Before you can use a service, it must be enabled. Some services require a license to run.

To enable a service, follow these steps:

  1. Click on the protocol on the left.

  2. Click on the Start button and wait until the status changes to Running. Without a valid licence, the service will stop automatically after a short time or cannot be started at all.

 Running

The service is running. The service can be stopped by clicking on Stop.

 Stopped

The service is not running. By clicking on Start, the service can be started, provided a valid license is available.

Purchase additional communication protocols

To purchase a communication protocol that is not yet licensed on the Beetle, proceed as follows:

  1. If the Beetle is connected to Avelon Cloud, log in to Avelon Cloud with a user that is allowed to manage devices. If the Beetle is connected to an Alcedo Inhouse system, please contact Avelon support.

  2. At the top right, click on the user name and on Devices.

  3. On the device list, click on the Beetle for which you’d like to purchase an additional license.

  4. Open the card Licenses and click on  Shop.

  5. You are now redirectged to the shop page for this Beetle. Select the desired communication protocol and proceed to checkout. After completing the process, the license will automatically be installed on the Beetle, and the protocol can be used right away.
