Remote access
On the Remote access card on the Connectivity page, you can allow or prohibit VPN connections to the Beetle. You can permanently allow remote access so that the device is permanently accessible via VPN by clicking on Enable ▸ Permanently. If remote access is enabled, you can have it automatically turned off after a set time interval.
This means that you no longer have to remember to switch off access manually after work is done by an external IT specialist, but you can be sure that access is automatically deactivated. Activate remote access if you have not already done so. Now click on Disable and select After timtout. In the following dialog, select the desired time interval from the list after which you want remote access to be deactivated and then click on Start timer. The automatic shutdown is now displayed with a timer.
In order to abort the timeout, simply click on Enable ▸ Permanently to enable permanent remote access, or on Disable ▸ Now to disable remote access immediately. Instead of manually switching remote access on and off, you can also have it controlled automatically via a schedule. First, configure your schedule by clicking on Edit schedule.
Add or edit items in the schedule to only enable remote access at specific time intervals.
Confirm the changes with OK. Afterwards, enable the schedule by clicking on Enable ▸ According to schedule and confirm with OK. Warning If there is no active schedule entry allowing remote access at the time you activate the schedule, remote access is immediately blocked.
If you are currently accessing the web interface of the Beetle via VPN, you may lose the connection to it. You can permanently block remote access so that the device is not accessible via VPN at all by clicking on Disable ▸ Now. The current status of remote access is displayed via the status icon on the Remote Access card: Setting Description Enabled (permanent) Remote access is permanently allowed. Enabled (schedule) Remote access is currently allowed based on the schedule. Disabled (permanent) Remote access is permanently blocked.
