Chart with alarm data point categories

The chart type Chart with alarm data point categories allows you to visualize the occurrence of alarms. For example, you can compare the average, maximum or effective number of alarms from different time periods.

The x-axis displays a category for each alarm data point that is assigned to the current group via the data point filters. Different comparison periods are each displayed with a separate plot.

A chart with several alarm data points and a total of 3 different aggregation functions or time periods

To set up a chart with alarm data point categories, proceed as follows:

  1. Create a new plot by clicking the Add Plot icon. Set the desired data function and time period.

  2. You can repeat the first step as often as you like, in order to create additional plots (that is, different aggregation functions or time periods).

  3. All alarm data points which have been assigned to the current group by means of data point filters are automatically displayed on the x-axis. You can assign data point filters to the group navigation in edit mode.

    Warning

Alarm data points are created automatically for all alertings. They can be identified by their system name starting with the text AC_.

To display them in the chart, first create a data point filter that filters respective alarm data points. For example, you can create a data point filter with type System Name that filters the string AC_*, or add specific strings as filter criteria to select only a few alarm data points. Afterwards, go back to the chart widget. Open the group navigation, edit the current group and assign the newly created data point filter to it in the section Data Point Filters.

Plots vs. data points

Unlike most other chart types, the alarm data points displayed on the X-axis are determined automatically by the system. Exactly one aggregated value is calculated and displayed per plot and alarm data point.
