Migrate to email-based username
In versions prior to 7.28, users could have a username that was different from their email address. Starting in version 7.28, we’re transitioning to a combined username and email address, where users use their email address as their username.
There will be a transition period before we enforce this new policy on all users. During this time, you can opt to migrate your username in a few simple steps.
Warning
The new policy only applies to manually created user accounts. User accounts that were synchronized from an external directory (LDAP etc.) are not affected.
Migrate now
Case A
My username and email address are identical, but I haven’t yet verified my email address.
All you need to do is verify your email address:
On your user details, click on the button Send Verification Link.
A verification link will be sent to your email address. Click on that link to verify your email address.
From now on, you’ll have to use your email address as your username to sign in.
Case B
My username is different from my email address, and I haven’t yet verified my email address.
Before you can make the transition, you’ll have to verify your email address:
On your user details, click on the button Send Verification Link.
A verification link will be sent to your email address. Click on that link to verify your email address.
Follow the instructions in the next section below.
If the email address is wrong or outdated, you can change it by clicking on Change Email Address. Note that the new email address must be unique. If there is already another user registered in the system with this email address as their username, use that user account instead. If you forgot your password, you can click on Forgot Password? on the login screen to recover it.
Case C
My username is different from my email address, and my email address is verified.
You can update your username with the press of a button:
On your user details, click on the button Update My Username Now.
Your username will be set to your email address.
If the migration was successfull, you’ll now have to use your email address as your username to sign in in the future.
If there is already another user registered in the system with the same email address as their username, however, you cannot migrate your user account. You should sign in with the other account instead and use that one as your primary user account. If you forgot your password, you can click on Forgot Password? on the login screen to recover it.
It is not possible to merge user accounts. If you have multiple user accounts with the same email address, you’ll either have to use different email addresses for each of these accounts, or create a single user account to access all your assets. We recommend the latter. With our mandates feature, it is possible to access assets of different clients with the same user account. Please contact Avelon support if you need help with the transition.
