Connectivity
The Connectivity card displays the current connection status of the Beetle.
Click on Details to see more details about the individual connection interfaces. Click on Configure to change the hostname of the Beetle. Click on Configure to configure the Avelon Sever to which the Beetle should connect. To connect to Avelon Cloud, select Avelon Cloud from the dropdown and click OK.
Note that the Beetle needs to be able to communicate with Avelon Cloud (avelon.cloud) to operate properly. To connect to an Alcedo Inhouse system, select Alcedo Inhouse from the dropdown, then enter the hostname or IP address of the server, and click OK.
Note that the Beetle needs to be able to communicate with the Alcedo Inhouse server to operate properly. Warning Please note that Alcedo Inhouse may only be configured to DHCP if the server is reachable under a fully qualified domain name, e.g. “alcedo.yourcompany”. In the second step, you can specify whether you want to connect to the Internet via the LAN connection you have just configured or via a separate WAN connection. Typically Alcedo Inhouse is configured with only one network card.
In this case select the option LAN.
If a second network card is configured in the machine, you can also select the WAN option here.
Please note that the configuration possibilities depend on which virtual networks Alcedo Inhouse is assigned via virtualisation. LAN If you selected LAN in the previous step, you can now configure the LAN interface: LAN setting Description Mode Static or DHCP (automatic) IP address IP address of the LAN interface Subnet mask Subnet mask of the LAN interface Gateway IP address of the LAN interface MAC address MAC address of the LAN interface DNS server 1 Address of the primary DNS server DNS server 2 Address of the secondary DNS server Click on Configure below the LAN settings to configure them.
You can either enable DHCP to obtain an automatic IP address or provide a manual IP address, subnet mask and gateway address. Click on Configure below the DNS servers to configure them.
If you enabled DHCP in the LAN settings, you can toggle the Manual option to enter manual DNS entries if necessary.
Otherwise, they will be obtained via DHCP. WAN If you selected WAN in the previous step, you can now configure the WAN interface.
The WAN connection essentially acts as a secondary LAN connection. WAN setting Description Mode Static or DHCP (automatic) IP address IP address of the WAN interface Subnet mask Subnet mask of the WAN interface Gateway IP address of the WAN interface MAC address MAC address of the WAN interface DNS server 1 Address of the primary DNS server DNS server 2 Address of the secondary DNS server Click on Configure below the WAN settings to configure them.

Check them and change any incorrect settings. Click Apply changes to save the changes.
The new settings should take effect within 2-3 minutes.
If there are connectivity errors, you can repeat the steps above and adapt the settings. See remote access. If the radio link between the Beetle and cell tower is interrupted, the modem tries to restore the radio link as follows: After every 3 failed connection attempts, the power state of the SIM card is reset. After every 24 hours the Beetle resets the connection regardless of the state. After every 40 subsequently failed connection attempts (which might take 5-10 minutes) the modem hardware is reset. As Alcedo Inhouse runs within a virtual machine, you can always find out the current network configuration of Alcedo Inhouse via the used virtualisation (VMWare or Hyper-V).Hostname
